Can’t attend in person? Online Hawthorn Event HERE Tuesday, November 12th

Plant Initiations are an ancient, ceremonial way to open to plants to receive their teachings. This special, in-person opportunity is a complete immersion with Hawthorn. We will be ingesting a special Hawthorn elixir that has been made ceremonially throughout the entire event. Fasting is recommended. If this is not possible, eat lightly, and ideally bland, simple food.

Hawthorn shares their bounty twice a year, when the veils are thinnest at the crossroads Beltane and Samhain. At Beltane celebrated around May 1st, Hawthorn blooms creamy, 5 petaled white-pink flowers; and then again produces a flush of cherry-red berries at the end of October, near Samhain. These two seasonal gateways at spring (the flush of new life) and autumn (death and regeneration) sit across from each other on the Wheel of the Year. Hawthorn has many powerful teachings for us especially about love and all matters of the heart. This is our opportunity to deeply listen. We will receive a powerful healing from Hawthorn.

"A gifted, knowledgable and wise teacher, Seraphina touches deep into the soul of plant wisdom and presents it to others with such amazing grace, insights, and her magical presence.  Few people hold space the way she does. When Seraphina creates sacred circle, one can feel the energy gathering and rising.  I absolutely love her plant meditations, and always look forward to sitting in circle with her.”
~ Rosemary Gladstar, Herbalist, author, Godmother of American Herbalism

 About Plant Spirit Initiations

All around the world, since time immemorial, people have received direct messages from nature, especially plants, to guide their own lives. We are in an era where humans must re-learn how to cultivate inner silence to receive these messages so we can partner with nature. Ritual and ceremony provide spiritual nourishment to commune with the living world, metabolize emotions, connect with timeless wisdom and grow together as a community.

Nature includes the world behind this world.

In this nourishing weekend you will experience how the Sacred Order of All Things speaks to us - through us. You will connect to your body’s wisdom and innate power through ritual and plant spirit medicine. You will awaken your inner wise seer and receive direct messages from Hawthorn.

Plants are a living bridge to the Otherworld forging a dynamic channel of communication between the seen and unseen. When we open ourselves to the green world in an intentional way our subtle body becomes receptive and our nervous system is re-educated to receive the wisdom and insight of a greater intelligence.

We will enter into the holy conversation between all things.

Plant Spirit Teachings

These teachings are informed by Seraphina's life-long relationship with plants. She was raised in a home that turned to herbal medicine all throughout her life. As a teen, she began taking small doses of non-psychoactive plants to attune her body, and listen for messages. Twenty-five years ago, she underwent a powerful 10-year Toltec Apprenticeship which changed how she sees the world. Together with formal training as a herbalist and a homeopath, she began teaching herbal medicine in 2008, and it was through teaching herbal medicine that the plants taught her. She has been apprenticing herself to plants ever since.

This is a non-residential intensive. There are plenty of campsites and rental accommodations on Salt Spring that you can easily find on the internet. We recommend you reserve your accommodations and review the ferry schedule to ensure you can attend the weekend. Salt Spring is about 4-hours from Vancouver, BC. Because ferry waits are long, we recommend arriving the day before.

To maintain the integrity of the strong circle we will create together, participants are asked to attend the whole weekend.

ABOUT SERAPHINA

Seraphina Capranos (she/her) is a clinical herbalist, homeopath, and initiated priestess with a practice spanning over two decades.

At the age of 14, Seraphina began learning alchemical practices from shamanic practitioners she met through fated circumstance. From the age of 16 until age 18 she apprenticed with a medical intuitive, Elizabeth Hammond. Then, embarked on the priestess path in 1998 into which she was initiated in 2016 through the Reclaiming Tradition. Like many cast onto the path of healing and spiritual training, it was pain and suffering that led her into the forest to seek answers to life’s big questions. First, it was an injury that left her bedridden with debilitating pain as a teenager, and just a few years later, the sudden tragic death of her beloved father which set her on a spiritual quest all before 21 years old.  She spent ten years in a Toltec apprenticeship, which radically shifted her perceptional world and helped shape her worldview as one deeply connected to the earth.

Considered one of Canada's leading herbalists, Seraphina is regularly sought after to teach at conferences and international symposiums. Considered an "OG", she has mentored many of today's up-and-coming herbal teachers and product developers and has influenced many popular brands and formula makers. She has developed, written and taught curricula for some of the largest herbal schools in North America.  She has been lauded as 'a young Elder' by Rosemary Gladstar, North America's Godmother of Herbalism with whom she has collaborated since 2021. Regarded as a 'teachers' teacher', Seraphina's unique blend of gifts straddle the vast worlds of plant medicine, homeopathy, ritual and ceremonial magic. She has taught thousands of students and has held countless circles, classes, rituals and ceremonies for groups as large as 300. She's been in clinical practice for twenty years. She is known for her heart-centered, generous teaching style that speaks to multiple ways of learning.

She received her formal education from the Vancouver Homeopathy Academy. a 4-year program in Classical Homeopathy and Emerson College of Herbology.

She would like to honour and thank the many teachers who have influenced the teacher and practitioner she is today: Elizabeth Hammond, Blade, Starhawk, Rose May Dance, Liz Forrest, Susun Weed, Willow Kelly, Urania Griffith, Robert Birch, Gwydion Logan, Suzanne Sterling, Rosemary Gladstar, Dr. Aviva Romm, MD, Amanda McQuade Crawford, RJ Stewart.
