This signature program has been offered to hundreds of students since 2008. What makes this program so unique is the marriage of both the practical, hands-on application of herbalism combined with the traditional, intuitive wisdom of the Wise Woman Way, taught by a sought-after teacher with over 20 years of clinical experience.
You will learn how to make potent, effective herbal medicine for yourself, family, friends and community saving hundreds of dollars on over-the-counter remedies and saving countless hours trying to figure out how to ease common household ailments.
A certificate of completion will be granted to all students who attend 80% of all classes.

"As a beginner in the world of plant medicine, I have often felt intimidated by this path. However the way this program weaves the essence and magic of plants with the science of herbal medicine has helped me find my confidence and clarity in working with herbs." Lisa W.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need additional supplies or books?

No. While you will receive a list of recommended reading and a list of wonderful classic texts we recommend, you are not required to purchase textbooks for the program. Seraphina supplies you with all class materials and extensive class notes that will be emailed to you. She also shares exceptional online resources that are treasured by herbalists.
Beyond that, extra expenses are dependent on the supplies you use to make herbal medicines at home for personal use.

Can I get a refund?
Refunds are granted in full 7 days before the program starts.  After registration closes and the program begins, partial refunds are permitted before the second weekend of class.

Will I learn how to farm and grow a herbal market garden?
While we will touch on growing and tending a herb garden, this is not the focus. If this is your interest we recommend our friends at Wild Folk Farm

The focus of our program is on materia medica (the medicinal study of plants), anatomy, physiology, herbal formulation and common ailments, all taught through the lens of Vitalism and intuitive ways of knowing. This program strikes a balance between the intuitive and the practical. Seraphina shares clinical pearls with you that come from real-life case examples and she imparts plant teachings that you wouldn't find in any book.
Will I be able to practice as a clinical herbalist once I finish this program?
Herbalism is not a regulated profession and there is no certifying body that oversees herbalists. This is both wonderful, and challenging. To practice as a clinical herbalist requires professional training in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, plus years of experience working with plants, mentorship, and peer-review of your cases. In total, clinicians do not start practicing until they've completed thousands of hours of study. The Alchemy of Herbal Medicine offers a foundation in herbalism so you can make a difference in your own health, and that of your family and community as a herbal educator. If you are looking for professional, clinical training, we recommend the 3-year program at Pacific Rim College
